As a veteran-owned business, Apalachicola Airboat Adventures is the longest-running airboat tour business on the Forgotten Coast. Captain Larry has been giving tours in the area since 2002 and has spent most of his life on the water.
You might say Captain Larry has boats in his DNA; both his grandfather and father were commercial fishermen. Captain Larry grew up in the Pacific Northwest and worked on a traditional longline halibut schooner in Alaska. In 1965, Larry joined the U.S. Navy, serving aboard a destroyer in Vietnam.
Since the year 2002, he has been a operating a charter boat business offering both charter fishing and eco-tourism on the Apalachicola Bay and River. The company evolved from B9 Charter to Wheelhouse Restaurant and Charters, and then Apalachicola Airboat Adventures was born.
When he’s not out on the water, Larry enjoys riding his motorcycle on the coast and listening to blues bands around town. Ask him about the best spots!
Captain Larry’s interest in the historical, environmental, and ecological aspects of the Apalachicola area and the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve (ANERR) enable him to give his riders not only a fun ride, but also add an educational element to the adventure.
